Bissap or known as red hibiscus calyx from Cameroon. It is a delicious drink that can be drunk hot or cold.

“Bissap” is on the one hand the name for “hibiscus flowers”, on the other hand it means a soft drink that is traditionally prepared with vanilla sugar.

The hibiscus flowers (Hibiscus Sabdarifa) are mainly produced in Africa and form the basic ingredient of “Bissap” or “Carcadé”, a traditional African drink. The flowers are picked, dried and then cut into small pieces.

Preparation:
Infuse 1 to 2 tablespoons of hibiscus per cup for 4 to 10 minutes, depending on the intensity you want to get. The water quickly turns ruby ​​red. You can drink it right away or leave it cool, it’s deliciously cold and very thirst quenching. The taste of the hibiscus tea infusion is sour.
